What Is Mandelic Acid?

Mandelic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) used in chemical exfoliation products.

It helps remove accumulated dead skin cells from the skin's surface and may improve the appearance of rough texture, dullness, and uneven pigmentation.

Mandelic acid has a larger molecular structure than glycolic acid and is often incorporated into products intended to provide gentler exfoliation. However, this does not mean it is irritation-free.

Frequency, concentration, formulation, and individual skin sensitivity all affect how well an exfoliating acid is tolerated.
